What is the darkest of blues?
The daylight ends as the planet spins and space invents the stars to set our eyes upon. The light they leaked as long ago as reptiles roamed now finds our homes, and we see.
The neon whites and the colored lights reflect the hopes of hopeless nights; and the moon alights – the highest lamp. Details are left, and silhouettes are what we get, but we see.

In every case we seem to find decline when the corresponding source grows hard to find.
But petroleum’s babies locate and depend on fuels born of fossils whose limits know ends.
And, so like Rome, we’ll find out.
Capital bore on its golden shoulders creation;
the opportunity for and the birth of this civilization;
a unique case for a specialized mankind;
a spec in space where knowledge may unwind.
But monopolist barons grew too in this soil with avarice ampler and thicker than oil.
Maybe we wouldn’t’ve given up if we hadn’t.
